ABOUT

A natural cinephile, Alejandra studied communications at the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City and completed her training with doctoral studies in communications and sociology sciences from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Additional course work completed include: an intensive screenwriting course at the New York Film Academy, a course in Literature and a workshop in Creative Writing at NYU.  
In New York, she has worked for the past thirteen years as a cultural correspondent and film critic for several media sources, including Vogue, Glamour, El Universal and Telefórmula USA, among others.
A regular presence at international film festivals, Alejandra has covered the Cannes Film Festival for two decades, as well as those in Venice, Rome, New York, Tribeca, San Sebastián, and the Berlinale. She also has been a member of the Jury of prestigious cinema festivals such as Zurich International Film Festival, Morelia International Film Festival, to name a few. 

As a screenwriter she has written five screenplays; a fiction feature (Love Behind Scenes); and, with the Spanish production company Malvalanda, four documentary shorts, entitled Hielo, Luces del Polo, Luchadoras, and Femei. These last two films were nominated and pre-selected for Spain’s Goya Awards in 2008 and 2009, respectively, and won prizes at numerous film festivals around the world.

Alejandra is Member of the Critics Choice Association and she teaches The Entertainment Beat class at Montclair State University in New Jersey.
